The RCNPP was a pioneer in the promotion of responsible and sustainable fishing, organizing catch and release days and carrying out educational work with important NGOs such as WWF and local associations such as the Mallorcan Association of Responsible Fishing and the Association of Moorers of Puerto Pollença. This section also organizes social activities such as conferences and training courses and children's fishing workshops.
Social outings. The fishing section is in continuous contact with the people of Pollença. More and more fishing enthusiasts join the social outings organized by the Club. The work of raising awareness about the sustainability of the marine environment is its main objective.
Possibly the most representative annual outing is the one that takes place at the end of September, the time of the year when the llampuga is found in our waters. However, other outings are also organized, such as in January to fish for squid.
Species tagging. In order to know the life of marine species and to measure the impact of recreational fishing on the marine environment, the RCNPP collaborates with scientific entities by tagging species with electronic or conventional tags.
The RCNPP promotes collaboration with the scientific studies of WWF, AZTI, IEO and CSIC, to better understand the species and also the impact of recreational fishing on them. We are fortunate to practice the most selective fishing possible and this makes us ideal for carrying out tagging activities with both conventional and electronic tags.
