The sailing section at Reial Club Nàutic Port de Pollença keeps the club active 365 days per year.
With activities all year round and for everyone, it fulfils its role, not only of promoting water sports and perfecting the technique in the discipline, but also conveys values like hard work, improvement, teamwork, respect and equality, among other things, thanks to its managers and team of instructors.
The sailing school is the driving force behind the section. The youngest members, a core of around 25 children aged between 6 and 9 use the Optimist sailing dinghy, while the older ones, approximately 15 of them, do Laser pico, windsurfing and kitesurfing. Social and institutional engagement is also vital in this section. Hence, throughout the year, introductory diving sessions and other activities are carried out with Pollensa’s primary and infant schools.
In addition to the school, we also have a Racing Team for Optimist, Ilca 4, Ilca 6 , Ilca 7, Kitesurf, Kitefoil and Wingfoil. The kitsesurfing class is booming in the Balearic islands and the RCNPP is pioneering in offering this discipline.
Classes are offered from boats, avoiding the beach area to ensure increased safety for the athletes.
Cruiser Sailing is a real leader in the world of sailing in Mallorca. The history of the RCNPP’s regattas features some important names from national sailing, as well as relevant competitions of importance.
Throughout the year, the club organizes local regattas, the Cormoran Trophy, the InterIlles Mortitx Trophy, and it also takes part in others alongside Clubs such as the one at Colònia de Sant Pere or Ciutadella.
Three leagues are organized during the year, one in autumn, one in winter (with two events) and one in spring (with four). The number of boats taking part totals more than twenty. Participation increases year on year and these gatherings enable people to breath in healthy, sea air.
Reial Club Nàutic de Puerto Pollença is a key place for the Flying Fifteen Class, with a large number of fans who regularly hold regattas in the waters of the Bay of Pollensa.
The European Championship in 2004 and the World Championship in 2007 are the most prestigious events that have been hosted by the RCNPP on the Flying Fifteen international circuit.
The RCNPP organizes the local races of this class that are held in the Bay of Pollensa over the course of the year, in addition to the Mallorca Championship and the Balearic Championship, which is formally the Spanish Championship since the majority of the fleet is Mallorca-based.
